PullTube 1.8.6.39
PullTube 1.8.6.39 for Mac
Save the file locally by pasting a URL and selecting the quality. This is better than keeping a browser tab opened.
Instead of searching for a converter website, drop a URL.
You can copy the URL from the address bar of the browser, then press Command-V to paste it into the main window. Or, you can drag a link highlighted, a thumbnail or a text document with URLs on the Dock icon or window. The app can parse spaces and line breaks so that a block of notes pasted into the app will yield multiple jobs. If you’d prefer to paste multiple links in a single field, use Command-O. Safari comes with an extension. Chrome and Firefox extensions send the page you are currently viewing or a thumbnail that is right-clicked into the same queue, or to the Download Later list.
After metadata is loaded, select the resolution, or audio-only M4A, and optionally add subtitles. Then press Return. On the product page, the vendor lists more than 1,000 hosts including YouTube, Vimeo TikTok Twitch Facebook Instagram Bilibili SoundCloud. Segmented streams can be stitched together into one file. When the source offers it, 8K, 4K HD, 60 fps, and other quality claims are made. There is a password field for videos that you already know the password to — this is not a cracker.
Trim first and convert in the same frame
When you need only a single clip, click the duration label or Trim with Preview in the thumbnail menu. Bounds can follow chapter timecodes; export from the trim view is documented as 720p for speed, with a save-trim-then-download path if you want the full listed resolution. Audio exports include title, artist, artwork and a comment with the URL source. Drag a title into Finder to move the thumbnail with the file. Swipe gestures reveal copy-link, Open-in-browser (open in browser), Skip-for-Later, and Cancel.
This workflow is right next to the Downie class downloaders and browser converters that are free. The pitch is that you can trim and convert in a native app without having to use a separate application. Browser sites throttle, watermark or push accounts. Extractor fragility is the honest trade-off: hosts constantly change layouts, so updaters ship frequent four-part versions. Geo-restricted web pages are supported by HTTP and SOCKS proxy servers. Firewalls of the Little Snitch type need to have an allow rule, otherwise fetches will fail silently.
Limitations on site, trial, two-Mac license and licensing
The official floor is macOS 11 Tahoe-compatible. One license is good for two Macs. A seven-day free trial can be obtained from MyMixApps. Setapp had version 1.8.6.39 listed at the time of research standalone for $19.99 or membership catalog but the marketing page showed a badge from an older version, 1.8.6.34. Setapp or the vendor retains updates and licenses as there is no Mac App store listing. Even when the client is cooperative, saving copyrighted streams or DRM-encrypted streams may violate a host’s terms. Treat this as a limitation and not a feature.
