Path Finder 26.1.8
Path Finder 26.1.8 for Mac
A Cocoatech Finder replacement: dual-pane copy, modular shelves, a Drop Stack for parking files, and a terminal that can follow the folder you are looking at.
Park, then copy across
You keep one pane on the source and one on the destination, or you toss a mixed selection into the Drop Stack and move it later. List View is the daily grid now: this build redesigned it, and Columns View got a pass as well. The path navigator accepts a pasted UNIX path; Goto Folder does too. Shelves hold modules you turn on from Window → Modules permissions, Info, Preview, Attributes so the chrome matches the job instead of Apple’s fixed sidebar. Hidden files show from the View menu. FolderSync compares two trees and can sync them; the 26 line also added a compare-two-folders operation and a duplicate hunt inside a selection. Preview can edit text and RTF in-place, play media in the column-view preview, and now opens Sony ARW raws. Checksums have their own improved pane when you need to prove a copy. The rewritten terminal can keep its working directory in step with the browser.
Remote shelves still list Dropbox, SFTP/FTP, Amazon S3, and Backblaze. Google Drive is a mounted desktop folder, not a built-in quick uploader. AirDrop as a browser view is gone after Apple’s recent OS changes; you still share to AirDrop from the Share menu. This is a paid upgrade from the old 11.x numbering. A license younger than a year can run the 26 line until that year is up; otherwise you buy a new term. The store lists a 1-year key around $32.95, plus 2- and 5-year keys, or a monthly/yearly subscription. The trial is 30 days and full-featured. Setapp is the other door. Default license seats are three Macs; a subscription defaults to two activations. macOS 13 is the current floor on Setapp and Homebrew.
When Finder is enough
Stay with Finder if tabs and a Quick Look tap cover you. Use ForkLift if dual-pane plus a first-class remote filesystem is the whole job. Use this if you want shelves, Drop Stack, and a synced terminal in one window and will pay a yearly term for it. Version 26.1.8 is the list-view refresh on that 26 shell cleaner rows, a wider checksum pane, ARW preview, and a finished Simplified Chinese localization.
