You don’t have to constantly slow down or shut down background apps. App Tamer lets you adjust settings, limiting apps only when your Mac is offline and the battery is below a certain percentage.

Quickly access App Tamer from your Mac’s menu bar. View CPU-hogging processes, identify stopped or slowed-down apps, pause App Tamer, and quickly access app settings.
Color indicators show increased CPU usage
App Tamer is always on guard for your Mac’s performance. By default, the app changes the color of its menu bar icon to indicate increased CPU usage.
CPU Load Notifications
Receive a notification whenever an app starts using too much CPU over a specified period of time. You can customize both the period and the CPU percentage that trigger notifications. You can even exclude your favorite apps from this rule.
How to install and activate?
Mount the image and run Open Gatekeeper friendly.
Press Enter to bypass Gatekeeper in the Terminal window.
Drag the application to the Applications folder.
The application is ready for use.
