Drop a file, stack models, export
You open a JPEG, TIFF, PNG, or RAW, or send the file from an editor plugin. Autopilot can pick a first stack; most people then add Denoise, Super Focus, Recover Faces, and an upscaler (Wonder for wrecked or tiny files). Local NeuroServer models run on Apple Silicon when the machine has the RAM; Intel Macs send generative work to the cloud. A finished file is a new TIFF or JPEG with the enhancements baked in it is not a non-destructive Lightroom catalog edit.
Wonder 3.5 is the generative upscaler for wrecked, tiny, or heavily compressed shots: it invents plausible detail rather than only interpolating pixels. Local Wonder can go past the old 192 MP cap, up to what the Mac can hold; cloud Wonder still stops at 100 MP. That is useful on a phone JPEG or a scan; it is the wrong tool if you need a forensic crop that must not hallucinate. Super Focus v3 now runs on RAW as well as processed files; Recover Faces rebuilds eyes and skin that the upscaler would otherwise smear. Exports also carry Content Credentials that the file was processed here; an optional watermark can be switched on if you want a visible mark.
Photo AI, Photoshop, and who should pay
Legacy Photo AI keepers still have a perpetual app, but new models ship only in this subscription product. Photoshop Super Resolution and Lightroom Enhance are cheaper if you already pay Adobe and only need a mild enlarge.
Version 1.7.0 still needs macOS 13 or later, 16 GB of RAM, and about 50 GB of disk; generative models want macOS 14 or newer. Large local upscales want 24 GB; Topaz calls 256 MP-class outputs a 128 GB job. The app phones home monthly to stay activated. Intel Macs are supported but slow, and they cannot run the Remove model. Virtual machines, NAS installs, and eGPUs are unsupported. Sony HQ Compressed RAW is still out; the new A7RV / A7RVI / Alpha 9 III import is for the compression types Topaz already supports.
