Sascha Simon’s menu-bar utility gathers Bluetooth peripheral charge levels and your Mac’s own battery stats into one glanceable strip instead of digging through System Settings or Control Center tiles.
Menu bar layouts and the main window
After launch, paired Apple Magic mice, keyboards, and trackpads appear alongside Logitech BLE gear, AirPods, Beats, Bose, Sony headphones, and other devices that publish the Bluetooth LE battery service. Pick a compact bar, icon with percentage, or text-only row for each device, hide ones you do not care about, and optionally collapse everything into a single menu-bar item. Click the icon to open a popover or main window that lists charge, health, cycle count, and time remaining for the internal Mac battery, including why macOS might stay plugged in without charging when Optimized Battery Charging or a charge limit is active.
Forecasts, alerts, and the Batteries helper
The app learns how fast each device drains and estimates when it will hit empty a weekday or a clock time rather than a bare percentage. Put a Magic accessory on its Lightning or USB-C cable and the row switches to a charging bolt with a full-time estimate until it reads Charged. Set low-battery notifications between 10 and 30 percent for peripherals and the Mac itself. Headphone support relies on the free Batteries helper module, which the app can download, start, and stop for you; Intel Macs may no longer receive helper builds their hardware cannot run. Run menu-bar-only with no Dock icon, enable login startup, and keep drain history on the machine the App Store privacy label reports no data collection.
App Store price and when to skip it
Magic Battery sells for $2.99 on the Mac App Store with Family Sharing, requires macOS 15.6 or later on the current branch, and occasionally lists iPhones or iPads even though the vendor marks that as unsupported. macOS itself still hides many third-party Bluetooth battery readings, so a headset that shows level on iOS may never appear here; that is a platform limit, not just this app. Built-in Control Center covers the Mac battery but not every accessory at once, while heavier suites like iStat Menus cost more for broader telemetry. Version 10.1.0 ships through the App Store with a redesigned app icon for macOS 27 by Hugo Santos.
