Frustrated with Spotlight because it can’t find files you know exist? Use FAF to find all the files on your drives, including those that are usually hidden. Search by file name, date, size, and even text content.
You can even search drives that aren’t indexed by Spotlight, including server volumes. Find Any File can find files not indexed by Spotlight, such as those inside packages and system folders that are typically excluded from Spotlight searches.
Unlike Spotlight, it doesn’t use a database, but searches data directly on the disk. This allows you to search for file properties, such as the name, creation and modification dates, file size, and even plain text within files.
Another useful feature is the hierarchical results view. This allows you to view found items in their corresponding folders, making it much easier to navigate through hundreds of found items.
How to install and activate?
Mount the image and run Open Gatekeeper friendly.
Press Enter to bypass Gatekeeper in the Terminal window.
Drag the application to the Applications folder.
The application is ready for use.
