From a URL to something you can drag into the Dock
You open Coherence, paste a URL on the creation canvas, pick a name and icon, and choose a mode: a single focused window, a tabbed workspace (Gmail plus Calendar plus Drive), or Incognito with no leftover session. X6 dropped the old popup wizard for a Liquid Glass canvas in the main window. During creation you can copy selected bookmarks, logins, and extensions from an existing Chromium profile into an isolated app profile—the source browser stays untouched. The Coherence Helper extension installs itself and stays updated from the parent app. After launch, drag the bundle into the Dock like any other Mac program; Stage Manager and the menu bar should show that app’s icon, not a generic Chrome glyph.
Engines, sandbox, and when Unite is the better sibling
Official X6 engines include Chrome, Brave, Chromium, Ungoogled Chromium, plus Vivaldi and Helium. New apps launch with Chromium’s security sandbox on—no more sandbox-off flags. BZG’s Unite is the WebKit counterpart if you want Apple’s engine instead of Chromium. Browser “install as app” shortcuts exist, but they rarely match Dock grouping, per-app extensions, and live link rules in one place.
Sequoia floor, one free seat, and extra apps
Official X6 notes require macOS 15 or later. Apple Silicon and Intel are both supported. The unpaid tier lets you keep one app with no time limit; more apps need a 6.x license. TidBITS lists 39.99 USD for one Mac, 59.99 for three, 99.99 for five, a 29.99 USD upgrade from X5, a possible free upgrade if you bought X5 on or after 20 July 2026, and Setapp. If you only need one web wrapper, stay on the free seat. If you live in Chrome extensions and Command-Tab, this is the Chromium SSB; if you want Safari’s engine, look at Unite instead. Version 6.0.1 is the current Sparkle build of that X6 line.
