A preview-first companion for Mac writers who draft in another app but need trustworthy rendering, markup-aware proofreading, and export paths that survive long manuscripts.

Preview beside your editor, not inside it
Marked is deliberately not a Markdown editor. You keep composing in Scrivener, Ulysses, MarsEdit, BBEdit, Word, or any app that writes plain text or Markdown to disk, and Marked watches the file for changes. Each save triggers an updated preview with the processor and style you assigned to that document type.

That split workflow matters when you care about pagination, footnotes, critic comments, or export fidelity more than typing inside the preview pane. Instead of guessing how GitHub-flavored tables or MultiMarkdown definition lists will print, you scroll a live HTML preview, jump headings, toggle comment visibility, and open Reading Mode to review structure block by block.

Styles, processors, and export profiles
Marked 3 ships with a Style Manager and custom CSS support, plus Custom Rules that can swap Markdown processors, run transforms, or call shell commands per file pattern. You can preview CommonMark with GFM extensions, Kramdown, MultiMarkdown, or route Scrivener binders through dedicated rendering logic.

When the draft is ready, Export Profiles send the same preview to paginated or continuous PDF, HTML, DOCX with change tracking, EPUB, RTF, Markdown, or TextBundle without reformatting the source file by hand. Proofreading tools highlight repetition, passive voice, and readability issues on top of the rendered page rather than inside your editor’s distraction-free view.

The built-in Markdown Dingus and Style Stealer utilities help you test processor differences and borrow readable typography from the web before committing to a custom export theme.
