LilyView is a universal image viewer for Mac OS. It’s an excellent alternative to the standard Preview viewer, which has limited functionality and an inconvenient interface.
Unlike many similar apps, this program doesn’t offer cumbersome filters or a comprehensive set of photo enhancement tools. In fact, it lacks even a graphical interface with additional options and buttons. However, LilyView’s operating principle is very similar to the classic Windows viewer: when opening an image, the user sees only the image, which can be enlarged or rotated using the trackpad, mouse, or keyboard. A gesture system is also available for quick navigation through the image collection. Moreover, when switching between images, a beautiful transparency effect is enabled by default.
The program supports all the most popular image formats, including JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and animated GIFs. A full list of available formats is available in the very first tab (Preferences). In the app settings (View section), you can set automatic zoom to display images in a window or full-screen. There’s also a separate option for viewing photos at their original size. The Browse tab lets you quickly navigate to the first or last image in a directory. To switch to full-screen mode, double-tap an image. To view a photo’s attributes, simply move the cursor to the right side of the screen.
How to install and activate?
