Initiator is an easy-to-use, lightweight macOS OCR (optical character recognition) app that extracts and recognizes any non-editable text on your Mac screen. As an added feature, it can convert image files into editable text.

It’s easy to use and makes it easy to extract text from images, scanned documents, and even videos.
If you’ve ever used the built-in Mac screen capture app or any other screenshot app, you’ll find Litiater easy to use. Simply select any part of an image, photo, document, or anything else on the screen, and the app will process and recognize any text within the selection. The captured portion of the screen and any text in that area are instantly recognized and copied to the clipboard or displayed in a small window.
For screenshots containing text, convert them to editable text files or copy them to the clipboard where you can paste the text. Or simply save the selected portion as an image file.
The app also supports OCR for PNG, JPG, JPEG, BMP, TIFF, and PSD files, converting them to plain text. All conversions and screenshots are performed securely on your device; none of your images or text are sent to any third-party cloud services.
This app’s OCR engine and any other feature don’t require an internet connection. It’s a secure solution for optical character recognition (OCR) and screenshots for those concerned about privacy. The app doesn’t collect user data.
How to install and activate?
Mount the image and run Open Gatekeeper friendly.
Press Enter to bypass Gatekeeper in the Terminal window.
Drag the application to the Applications folder.
The application is ready for use.
